NSYL needs volunteers to help make the season run smoothly

Youth sports runs on the passion of volunteers, and NSYL is no exception.  NSYL seeks nominees for the following positions, to help make our season run smoothly.  Many hands make light work, and we need your help!

Member-at-large

This is a new position on the Executive Committee.  Their sole responsibility is to represent the views of the membership within the EC.  Our bylaws require that nominees for officer positions like this be endorsed by at least one member organization's governing body.  If you are interested, please reach out to your club to let them know!

All of the director positions below are not technically "officers" of the League and are designed to require involvement only for limited periods of time.  Attendance at board meetings is not expected during the off-season.

Since these roles are not officers, they do not require an endorsement.  They may be appointed by the President, subject to confirmation by the board.  Please reach out to president@nsyouthlax.com or your club representative to express your interest/willingness to serve your community in this way!

Director of Compliance

Responsible for verifying the eligibility of all players and coaches.  USA Lacrosse will send a list of players, and the DoC matches players up to make sure everyone is on the team they're supposed to be on, and all the coaches have current certifications.  This role has a flurry of activity for a couple of weeks at the beginning of the spring season, then is done unless there are any eligibility disputes during the season.

Director of Scheduling

Chairs the schedule committee, which is responsible for creating and keeping updated the season schedule.  Each club is required to name someone to the schedule committee, and submit blackout dates in advance, so this is not a job you'll be alone for.  Works with the schedule committee to create as reasonable a schedule as can be managed.  Coordinates closely with the Director of Officials through the season to ensure that the League schedule and referee assignment schedule are kept in sync when and as schedule changes come about.

Director of Events

Chairs the events committee, and is be responsible for the planning of the pre-season jamboree and end of season tournament.  Jamboree planning consists primarily of coordinating with the host club, who has historically reserved fields on behalf of the League, and the Director of Officials who is working with the referee trainers for whom the Jamboree is their field training session.

The End of Season Tournament planning consists of coordinating with a venue (generally arranged by a host club), coordinating with member clubs to ensure sufficient field equipment is provided for the event, and management of any tournament services, e.g. Tourney Machine that may be used.

Director of Officials

Responsible for coordinating training of referees, managing the schedule in Arbiter, processing referee payments, and receiving feedback about referees.  Works closely with the Director of Scheduling to ensure the League schedule and referee assignment schedule are always kept in sync.

Director of Vertical Integration

Responsible for advising not-yet-vertically-integrated member organizations on strategies to grow their organizations toward a vertically integrated structure.
